Selmer Mark VII Alto Saxophone — Pre-Owned

Pre-owned Selmer Mark VII alto saxophone, made in France. The Mark VII is a well-regarded professional horn that sits between the Mark VI and Series II in Selmer's lineage, known for a focused, centered tone with good projection.

Finish: Original lacquer with beautiful floral bell engraving and the classic Henri Selmer Paris stamp. The finish shows some wear consistent with age and use, pads are all in good shape and this instrument seals top to bottom after going through our shop. Comes with the original case that is in decent shape for its age. The next owner may want to upgrade the case to something more modern and secure.

Some words about the history of this horn:

  • Mitch Weiss is the original owner, father of David Weiss of Lion King and flute fame!
  • Used for the original production of Les Miserables
  • Used at The Metropolitan Opera on countless performances including PBS great performances and broadcasts of Porgy & Bess, Lulu, Rise and Fall of Mahogany, Turandot, Rhapsody in Blue and many others!
  • Also used in many freelance orchestras,, film recording sessions and recordings in NYC including the American Symphony and NYC Ballet

Serial #2516XX dates it to 1976.
