Selmer Paris Soloist Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece
Originally produced in the 1950s as the standard equipment paired with the iconic Mark VI saxophone, the Soloist became inseparable from the sound of that golden era of jazz. Today's Soloist is a faithful modern reproduction of that original design, carrying forward everything that made it so desirable.
Its horseshoe chamber is the heart of what makes the Soloist unique. Compact and precisely shaped, it produces a warm, focused, rounded tone with a directness and core that holds together beautifully from a full, resonant forte all the way down to the softest pianissimo. Attacks are accurate and immediate, particularly in both the low and high registers — the two areas where alto players most often find troublesome.
While jazz players have always been drawn to the Soloist, the mouthpiece crosses stylistic lines with ease with many classical saxophonists being drawn to it.
Available in the Classical tip openings (C* and C**), the Soloist covers a wide range of playing preferences.
