Play Without Limits

The YDS-120 uses the same key configuration as an acoustic saxophone, including high F#, front F, and low A, so your muscle memory transfers directly. A breath sensor in the specially designed mouthpiece reads both the presence and pressure of your air, giving you full dynamic control from the first note. No embouchure training is required. Simply blow into the mouthpiece and the instrument responds. The mouthpiece is removable for easy cleaning and maintenance.

Yamaha's AWM (Advanced Wave Memory) sampling technology powers a library of 73 voices, including 56 sampled soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone sounds. An analog controller allows for real-time phrasing and tonal input using your breath, giving you the full tonal color palette of the entire saxophone family in a single instrument.

Volume Control

A 15-step volume adjustment lets you decide how much sound fills the room, or none at all. Plug in headphones and play at midnight without waking a soul. Connect the Aux In jack and play along with backing tracks. Run it on USB power at your desk or on four AAA batteries at the park. The YDS-120 is as portable as your ambition.

The YDS Controller App

Pair the YDS-120 with the dedicated YDS Controller app (iOS and Android) via cable to access deep sound editing, fingering customization, and instrument settings that go beyond what's available on the instrument itself. Yamaha's Rec'n'Share app adds another layer — record performances as audio or video, play along with tracks on your device, adjust tempo, and loop sections for focused practice.
